The former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa who reported to the Bribery Commission this morning, later went to see former minister Basil Rajapaksa in Welikada Prison hospital.

MPs Bandula Gunawardana, Roshan Ranasinghe, Western Provincial Council Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and WPC member Udaya Gammanpila accompanied him to visit former Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Our correspondent stated that supporters of former minister Basil Rajapaksa were engaged in a protest carrying placards in front of the prison hospital at that time.

However, MP Bandula Gunawardana took time to speak to our news team amid his busy schedule.

He expressed his views about the protest they held disregarding the court injunction, 19th Amendment and several other burning political issues.

Gotabaya leaves Bribery Commission to visit Basil in Prison Hospital.

Ex-Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa arrived at the Bribery Commission (BC) this morning after he was summoned to record a statement over various allegations.

Meanwhile, a tense situation prevailed due to a protest organized by several Pro-Rajapakse organizations and political parties including Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) outside the Bribery Commission against the summoning of Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. The protest was carried out despite an order issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday banning the protest.

Mr.  Gotabhaya Rajapaksa left the Bribery Commission a short while ago to visit his brother former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapakse to Welikada Prison hospital with Ex-minister Bandula Gunawardane.
