Sri Lankans are NOT HAPPY – Gallup Polls

Switzerland is the world’s happiest country, according to a new survey.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka has been placed in 132nd position among the happiest countries.

All the neighboring countries of Sri Lanka scored higher marks in the report with India ranking 117, Pakistan 81, Bhutan 79, Nepal 121 and Bangladesh at 109th.

Switzerland crowned the third yearly World Happiness index produced by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), an initiative under the United Nations (UN). It was closely followed by Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Canada.

The World Happiness Report examined 158 countries and is aimed at influencing government policy.

The study bases its rankings on data from the Gallup World Poll and takes into account variables such as real GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, corruption levels and social freedoms.
