Distorted National Flag case to be investigated
The government asked the Attorney General and police today to investigate certain groups publicly displaying distorted flags similar to the country’s national flag at several recent meetings and protests.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ajith P Perera made this request during a media conference held in Colombo this afternoon.
Meanwhile Pivituru Hela Urumaya stated that the same distorted flags similar to the national flag were displayed at Bring Back Mahinda protest rallies held in Kandy and Ratnapura.
The two green and orange colors stripes that represent minorities in the country had been noticeably omitted in these distorted flags.
At the same time, our situation reporters noticed that the same distorted flags were displayed by certain demonstrators during the recent protest that was held on parliament road to object the summons on former president Rajapaksa to the Briery Commission.
Moreover, fake flags similar to this distorted flag were displayed at the protest held in front of the Bribery Commission while former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa arrived there to give a statement yesterday.
