The National Campaign to Protect Consumer Rights presented a proposal today against the banning of full face helmets.
Expressing his views at a media briefing convened in Colombo today, an organizer of the campaign B.R.W. Balasuriya stated that a new law should be introduced that a motor cyclist wearing a full face helmet should remove the helmet when stepping off the motor cycle.
The Court of Appeal recently issued an interim injunction order, which stalled the law on banning full face helmets imposed by the police.
The interim injunction order is effective until the 28th of this month.
After considering two petitions filed by 2 persons challenging the full face ban, the Court of Appeal issued the interim injunction order.
Meanwhile, the National Campaign to protect Consumer Rights will hold a protest at Gatambe grounds in Kandy tomorrow, demanding on the rights of wearing full face helmets.
