There is uncertainty again over the passing of the 19th Amendment, as the opposition demanded the government to implement 8 of their proposals in reciprocal to their support.

However, it is reported that the government has not yet come to any conclusion with regard to certain proposals.

Among one of the proposals by the opposition is that MPs should be appointed by the members of the Constitutional Board.

Two political party leaders’ meetings were held today while the parliament was debating the 19th Amendment.

It is reported that both the president and the prime minister participated in the party meeting held in the afternoon.

MEP leader Dinesh Gunawardana disclosed the proposals made by the opposition.

Former minister Wimal Weerawansa said that the government should accept the proposals made by the Opposition.

Our news team contacted MP G.L. Peries who submitted these proposals to the government.

He said that the government has appointed a six-member committee to study this proposals.
