An Interdicted Police constable was arrested for posing as an ASP on special duty during a Vesak Procession in Badulla.

According to Badulla Police, the suspect was seen ordering other police officers while wearing a uniform similar to a uniform worn by an ASP.

However, a sub inspector who noticed the difference in his fake uniform had informed the matter to the ASP of Badulla Police and later the suspect was arrested.

The suspect is a resident of Kandegedara, Badulla

Initial investigations have revealed that he has served as a police constable in Vavuniya and Batticaloa, but was interdicted for not reporting for duty in 2007.
