Dr. Chandana Jayaratne of Colombo University’s Faculty of Physics stated that Planet Mercury has shrunk by 7 km.

He stated that the messenger space craft which crashed on to the surface of the Mercury on the 1st of this month has revealed these details.

The Messenger space craft which orbited Mercury for 4 years crashed on to the North pole of Mercury at a speed of 14,000 KMPH, which is 12 times the speed of sound.

The impact also created a crater on the surface.

However, this crater cannot be detected from the Earth.
