Former Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has been summoned to the Financial Crimes Division next Monday.

Reports say that the former Defence Secretary has thus been summoned to the Financial Crimes Division for questioning with regard to several financial transactions including the Mig deal.

Earlier the Bribery or Corruption Investigations Commission too had recorded statements from him.

Meanwhile former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said yesterday that legal action would be taken against the JVP.

He stated that his reputation has been tarnished by the complaint that a financial fraud had taken place at the ‘Daeyata Kirula’ exhibition held in Ampara.

This complaint had been filed against former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, former Ampara District Secretary Neil de Alwis and Ampara Urban Council Chairman Indika Nalin Jayawickrema.

At a media briefing held in Ampara yesterday the Ampara Urban Council Chairman said that he too would take legal action against former JVP MP Wasantha Piyatissa with regard to tarnishing his reputation.

GOTA vows legal action against JVP

Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa says that he will take legal action with regard to the petition filed against him by the JVP at the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission.

The JVP filed a petition at the Bribery commission yesterday saying that massive financial irregularities had taken place at the ‘Daeyata Kirula’ exhibition held in Ampara in 2013.

This petition has been filed against former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, former Ampara District Secretary Neil de Alwis and Ampara Urban Council Chairman Indika Nalin Jayawickrema.

However former Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa expressing his views to our news team said that legal action would be taken against the JVP over harming his reputation.

The former Defense Secretary said that no such money had been credited to his bank account.
