Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the outcome of his meeting with President Maithreepala Sirisena would depend on the nature of the future discussions.

He stated this after meeting with a group of teachers at Narahenpita Abhayaramaya this morning.

Responding to a journalist during this meeting, the former president said that he did not demand the Prime Ministerial candidacy or anything else.

He further said that those factions engaged in discussions should decide as to whom they should offer the Prime Ministerial candidacy.

At the same time, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said, the term of local government institutions should be extended unless elections are conducted for them.

Later, in the afternoon, the former President Rajapaksa visited former minister Johnston Fernando, who is currently held in Colombo Remand Prison.
