Request to postpone election for Local government institutes

Former Minister Bandula Gunawardena stated that President Maithripala Sirisena has promised to discuss and take a decision regarding the Prime Ministerial candidate of SLFP for the upcoming General Election.

Former Minister Bandula Gunawardena stated that this was revealed during the meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa which was held at the parliamentary complex yesterday.

Speaking during a media briefing held in Colombo today, former Minister Gunawardena added that the election of the local government institutes will be postponed until their term limits have been finalized.

Former Minister Faizer Musthafa stated that they joined yesterday’s meeting between the former President and the current president, with the aim of protecting the unity of SLFP.

He said this while attending a media briefing held in Colombo today, which was convened by the representatives who attended yesterday’s meeting.
