Opposition MPs to meet Geneva Parliamentary Union

A group of opposition MPs are planning to meet the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva during the next two weeks.

Attending a media briefing convened in Colombo today, MP Bandula Gunawardena stated that they intend to inform the Inter-parliamentary Union regarding the incidents faced by the local parliamentarians.

MP Bandula Gunawardena also expressed his views regarding the no confidence motions currently being prepared to be lodged against certain ministers and officers of the government.

MP stated that they intend to move a no confidence motion against several persons including Minister John Amaratunga for his use of power, the Commissioner General of the Bribery Commission for exercising state power beyond her capacity, and the Governor of the Central Bank regarding the alleged financial malpractices of the Central Bank.

In addition, the MP stated that they are also preparing a no confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake with regards to 15 issues.
