25 reservoirs out of 78 spill over; heavy showers tonight as well

The met department stats that under the influence of Inter Tropical Convergence Zone, the possibility for rain and lightning activity over the country is high.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at most parts of the island during the afternoon and night.

Heavy rain falls about 100 mili meters are also expected at some places.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

Duty Meteorologist Janaka Kumara requests the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.

The Irrigation department states that 25 reservoirs out of 78 have reached spill level.

The Disaster Management centre states that due to incessant showers for the past couple of days 541 people belonging to 192 families in the Colombo District have been shifted to secure areas.
