Former Minister Johnston Fernando, who is in remand in connection with financial fraud, was remanded again until 25th of this month.
Fernando’s lawyers requested bail for their client when the former minister was produced before Kurunegala Chief Magistrate Ravindra Premarathna but the Chief Magistrate rejected the bail request.
Following a complaint against the former minister which charges that he removed goods worth 5 million 275 thousand rupees from Lak Sathosa outlets during his tenure as the Internal Trade Minister, the Police Financial Investigation Division arrested former minister Johnston Fernando on the 5th of this month.
Lak Sathosa former chairman K.M.R. Fernando was also remanded until 25th of this month when he was produced before the Kurunegala Chief Magistrate.
