The Collective of the local government councillors stated that they would hoist black flags at all Pradeshiya Sabha councils governed by the UPFA on the 15th of this month.
This was revealed at a summit held in Colombo today which was organized by a group of UPFA local government councillors against dissolving the local government institutes and handing over their administration to officialdom.
Eight proposals were passed during this summit, which includes informing the President and the Prime Minister regarding the dissolving of the local government institutes, extending the official term of the local government institutes, condemning a statement made by Minister John Amaratunga regarding the matter, placing the subject matters of local government institutes and provincial councils under one Minister, as well as condemning the statement made by former President Chandrika Kumaranatunga regarding the Pradeshiya Sabha councillors.
In addition, a proposal was presented to hoist black flags in front all local government institutes on the 15th of this month.
Many UPFA councillors representing local government institutes across the island participated in this summit.
