The CEO of the operation hand of a Tsunami housing project – RADA – Saliya Wickramasuriya was further remanded today until 19th of this month.
The RADA was set up in 2006 in order to build houses for the Tsunami affected people in the North and the East.
Police launched investigations in connection with some alleged financial frauds amounting to 169 million rupees.
The Special Investigation Unit of the Police Headquarters arrested CEO of RADA Saliya Wickramasuriya in connection with this alleged fraud on May 9th.
Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today, police media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that investigations revealed that a member of the LTTE Intelligence Unit Emil Kanthan is also involved in this fraud case.
The UPFA Provincial Councilor Nauzer Fauzi has been arrested by the Colombo Crime Division.
He was arrested on an order issued yesterday by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya to the Colombo Crime Division and the ASP in charge of Cinnamon garden area.
Nauzar Fouzi is wanted in connection with allegedly intimidating a businessman with a firearm and threatening him with death in Torrington area in 2011.
Nauzar Fauzi is the son of former Disaster Management Minister A.H.M. Fauzi.
