20th A to cabinet today

The 20th Constitutional Amendment Bill for electoral changes is scheduled to be presented to the Cabinet today.

Earlier, during the final discussion held with regard to this matter, the President informed political party leaders to submit new proposals, if any, to the Presidential Secretariat before 12 noon today.

Accordingly, SLMC submitted its proposals this morning.

Meanwhile, JVP also handed over a set of changes to the electoral system.

Democratic People’s Front Leader Mano Ganeshan said his party, jointly with Kamkaru Jathika Peramuna and Kandurata Janatha Peramuna, handed over their proposals.

The Socialist People’s Front has proposed to provide two voting cards to each qualified voter.

An ally of Socialist People’s Front, Lanka Samasamaja Party General Secretary former minister Tissa Vitharana expressed his views with regard to their proposal.

In addition, TNA, All Ceylon People’s Congress led by Minister Rishard Badi Udin and EPDP submitted a report with regard to the changes to the electoral system.
