Mahinda Rajapakse demands Rs. 1 billion from Mangala Samaraweera
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has sent a Letter of Demand to Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera demanding a compensation for Rs. 1 billion.
When our news team contacted former President’s lawyer Athula Priyadarshana de Silva, he stated that the Letter of Demand has informed Minister Samaraweera to pay the defamation damage within 21 days.
Addressing a media briefing in Colombo on May 7th, Minister Mangala Samaraweera said that the wealth of Rajapaksa family has amounted to 18 billion US dollars.
Addressing a meeting held at Abhayaramaya in Narahenpita, former President Rajapaksa responded to Minister Mangala Samaraweera.
He questioned whether the current government has evaluated the wealth of Rajapaksa family going by the development projects that it has initiated.
However, Attorney-at-law Athula Priyadarshana de Silva said that he sent this Letter of Demand as Minister Samaraweera’s statement over the Rajapaksa family wealth, has tarnished the reputation of his client.
