Massive Earthquake may hit Sri Lanka
The senior geologist Professor Kapila Dahanayake reiterates that nobody could predict earthquakes.
He expressed these views after our news team enquired him about any possible impact on the other countries of the region after the two massive earthquakes that hit Nepal recently.
Over 8 thousand people were killed when a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal on April 25th.
Commenting on the earthquake to our news team, senior geologist attached to the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau Mahinda Seneviratne said that Sri Lanka has minimum risk of earthquakes.
Meanwhile Sri Lankan Embassy in Katmandu has been temporarily closed after the second earthquake that hit Nepal last Tuesday.
Sri Lankan Ambassador in Nepal W.M. Seneviratne told our news team that the Embassy was closed after few crack appeared on the wall of the Embassy.
