Kottawa School Principal fined & jailed

A 10 year suspended jail term was passed on the former Principal of Kottawa Ananda Vidyalaya for demanding a sexual bribe from a mother to admit her child to the school.

The jail term was passed after the suspect pleaded guilty today when the case was taken before Colombo High Court Judge Irangani Perera.

Police arrested the suspect while he was preparing to obtain the bribe at a guest house in Werahera area on September 5th, 2013.

Delivering the verdict, the Colombo High Court Judge ordered the suspect to pay a fine of Rs. 20,000 and passed a jail term suspended for 10 years.

High Court Judge Irangani Perera further stated that a light punishment has been meted out to the suspect after considering the plight of his wife and three daughters.
