Minister of Rural Economic Affairs S.B. Dissanayake stated that he assumed the ministerial portfolio of the current government unwillingly.

He stated this to the media, after paying a courtesy call to the newly appointed Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter Most Venerable Galagama Attadassi Thera in Kandy today.

The minister also stated that he is more willing to work in the opposition, however, assumed the ministerial portfolio following a request made by the President.

He also accused that the UNP does not have a keen interest regarding the amendment of the electoral system.

In response to a question raised by a journalist, Minister S.B. Dissanayake stated that the Geneva issue aggravated due to the weakness of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

He also reiterated that by offering a ministerial portfolio to the former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake was also wrong.
