The stay order issued by the Appeal court preventing the full face helmet ban has been further extended until July 2nd.

The court extended its order when the case was taken before the Appeal Court today.

Police banned wearing full face helmets with effect from April 2nd, but the ban was restricted by the Appeal Court when two persons filed a petition against the ban on March 31st.

When the case was taken before the court today, the Attorney General requested the court some more time to file objections, and accordingly, the stay order on the full face helmet ban was extended until July 2nd, and the court fixed the case to be heard again on July 30th.

Several protests were held throughout the island against the full face helmet ban in the past, and a similar protest was held today at Colombo Fort.
