Several MPs handed over a no confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake to Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa today.

UPFA MP Ranjith de Soyza said a no confidence motion was brought against the Finance Minister as he is responsible for appointing a foreigner as the Central Bank Governor and selling Treasury bonds inappropriately.

UPFA MPs group has already handed over no confidence motions against Central Bank governor Arjuna Mahendran, Minister John Amaratunga, Bribery Commission’s Director General Dilrukshi Wickramasinghe, and Minister Ravi Karunanayake.

It is reported that the first three no confidence motions have already been included in the parliament agenda.

These no confidence motions would be taken for debate after they are discussed in the political party leaders’ meeting.

Addressing a media briefing held at the Opposition Leader’s Office today, Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva said that the no confidence motion against Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran would be discussed during the political party meeting tomorrow.

Addressing the same media conference, UPFA General Secretary and MP Susil Premajayantha criticized the activities of finance minister Ravi Karunanayake.
