SLFP Media Spokesman Dilan Perera said that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa lost his post, for not appointing then Health Minister and current president Maithripala Sirisena as his Prime Minister.

MP Dilan Perera expressed these views during a media conference held at the Opposition Leader’s Office to announce the resignation of the 4 ministers from the government.

Addressing the media, the MPs said that they resigned from their positions as they cannot work under the circumstances prevailing in the government.

Dilan Perera held the post of State Minister of Housing and Samurdhi while Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena held the post of Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.

C.B. Rathnayake was the Minister of Public and Democratic Administration while Pavithra Wanniarachchi was the State Minister of Environment.

MP Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana said that it is an outrageous lie to call the current government, a national government.

MP Pavithra Wanniarachchi said that she resigned from the post over an issue regarding policies.

Expressing his views regarding the resignation, MP C.B. Rathnayake stated that they cannot continue to work, while being unable to fulfill the requirements of the people at the divisional level.
