Relatives of Sri lankan kidnapped in Nigeria speaks to HIRU
A ransom of 50 million has been demanded to release the Sri Lankan national who was abducted near the borders between Ondo and Kogi provinces of Nigeria.
However it is not clearly mentioned whether the abductors demanded this money in Sri Lankan rupees or in any other currency.
A relative of abductee D.A. Karunadasa told our news team that the ransom is demanded from the Italian construction company for which the abductee was serving in Nigeria.
Earlier, a newspaper called Sahara Reports, had reported that the ransom was demanded from the relatives of the abductee.
D.A. Karunadasa who was abducted last Tuesday was a resident of Mottunna in Veyangoda.
A 68-year old father of one daughter, Karunadasa had lived with his family in Nigeria.
Karunadasa’s relative Y.L.M. Chandradasa told our news team that Karunadasa is a Civil Engineer and employed by an Italian construction company called Borini Prono in Nigeria for the last 35 years.
