The Health Ministry states that the Medical Research Institution is kept on alert round the clock in order to identify prospective patients hit by Influenza AH1N1 and influenza-B virus.
Health Service Director General Dr. Palitha Mahipala told our news team facilities have been provided to all hospitals throughout the country in order to identify AH1N1 patients if any.
AH1N1 virus was reported in the country during the past couple of years.
However the MRI has observed a rapid infectious situation during the affected period of time.
This situation was observed specially in the Western, South and North Western provinces due to wet weather conditions.
The Contagious disease Unit of the Health Ministry stated that pregnant women, infants, the old and patients suffering from chronicle diseases should be cautious as they are more vulnerable to this virus.
