Alliance leaders meet former president today

A meeting was held between party leaders constituting the UPFA and the President last afternoon.

That was about UPFA’s future action and the amendment to the election system.  

Democratic Left Front Leader Vasudeva Nanayakkara who participated in the discussion told our news team that at the meeting discussion had been held at length with regard to the UPFA coming forward for the upcoming election as a broad front.

In addition discussion had been held with regard to having the 20th amendment to the constitution passed in parliament soon as well as the no-confidence motion due to be brought against the Prime Minister.

Democratic Left Front Leader Vasudeva Nanayakkara said further that on that occasion the President had said that the parliament would be dissolved after the passing of the 20th amendment.

Meanwhile participating at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday UPFA general Secretary  Susil Premajayantha said that the Alliance leaders were scheduled to meet the former President as well today.
