A group of SLFP parliamentarians took their oaths as Ministers before the President today.

Accordingly, Deputy Minister of Aviation Services Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena took his oaths as the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, while Pandu Bandaranayake took oaths as the State Minister of Public Administration and Democratic Governance.

In addition, the President’s Media Unit stated that Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was sworn in as the State Minister of Environment while Hemal Gunasekara was sworn in as the State Minister of Housing and Samurdhi.

Furthermore, Chandrasiri Suriyaarachchi also took oaths as the Deputy Minister of Land.

Following the swearing in of the new ministers, the current government includes 40 cabinet ministerial positions including the President and the Prime Minister.

In addition, there are 11 state ministers and 23 deputy ministers.

Recently a cabinet minister and 3 state ministers of SLFP resigned from their ministerial portfolios.

Meanwhile, our news team enquired Chandrasiri Suriyaarachchi who took oaths today as the Deputy Minister, regarding assuming a new ministerial post.

He stated that he accepted the ministerial portfolio owing to the desire to serve the public.
