Sri lankan engineer saved from abductors in Nigeria to return home on Thursday

Sri Lankan Engineer D.A. Karunadasa who was abducted by an armed gang in Nigeria and later released, is due to arrive in the island on the 4th of this month.

He was abducted in the border of Ondo and Kogi states by an armed gang on the 19th of May, after shooting the police officer who was on guard to death.

Later the local Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Italian Company he worked collaborated to rescue him.

It was also reported that the armed gang had demanded a ransom to release Karunadasa.

68 year old Karunadasa is a resident of Mottunna in Veyangoda.

Speaking to our news team, his daughter Shenali Ratnasekara expressed her views regarding her father’s return to the island.
