Dengue risk heightens in 10 districts: 400 members of tri-forces deployed for eradication
The Health Units stated that there is a risk of dengue spreading in 10 districts due to the rainy season.
The Epidemiology Unit shows that districts including Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha, Ratnapura, Kandy, Kurunegala, Jaffna, Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Puttalam have a higher risk of contracting dengue.
Dengue eradication program is conducted as a collaborative effort of the Health Ministry, Tri-forces and the local government institutes.
Community Health Specialist Doctor Prashila Samaraweera stated that in this backdrop, a Dengue Eradication Campaign has been implemented.
Meanwhile, Army spokesperson Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera said that they have deployed 400 members of the Tri-forces for dengue eradication.
Within the last 5 months of this year 26 have died due to dengue, while 14,700 cases were reported.
