Sri lankan ambassador to India recalled
The Foreign Affairs Ministry has summoned the Sri Lankan ambassador to India Sudarshana Senevirathna back to the island.
The foreign affairs Ministry recalled 50 diplomats recently appointed by the previous government on political basis.
Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo Deputy foreign affairs Minister Ajith P. Perera stated that Sri lankan ambassador to India is also a political appointment by the previous government.
Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Ajith P Perera stated that the Russian government has stated that they would support investigations regarding Sri Lanka’s Former Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weerathunga.
Udayanga Weeratunga, who is alleged to have supplied weapons to Ukranian rebels and had engaged in other businesses using diplomatic privileges.
Sri Lanka’s Former Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weerathunga who was reported missing appeared at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Tehran, Iran recently.
However, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Iran has rejected the request for dispatching a stock of goods belonging to former Sri Lankan Ambassador in Russia from Iran to Colombo.
