Colombo High Court today fixed for June 15th to consider revision application filled by former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa who sought bail from High Court.

The decision was taken today when the bail application was considered before Colombo High court Judge Kusala Sarojani Weerawardana.

Former Minister Bail Rajapaksa filed a bail application citing that he was arrested illegally, and kept in remand.

The attorney General has been named as the main respondent in former minister Rajapaksa’s bail application.

The High Court Judge ordered the Attorney General to file preliminary objections with regard to this case before June 15th.

When the case was called, lawyers of former minister Basil Rajapaksa told the court that a fundamental rights case has been filed before the Supreme Court against the arrest of the former minister.

The lawyers also requested the court to postpone considering bail for the former minister as his rights case would be taken for hearing on June 12th.

The four suspects including former minister Basil Rajapaksa have been remanded in connection with financial misappropriation that they have allegedly committed in the Divi Neguma Department.

Meanwhile, the police informed court today that Attorney General’s counseling would further be obtained in its investigation in connection with the charges leveled against the three suspects including former minister Johnston Fernando.

Police informed this when the case against the three suspects was taken before Kurunegala Magistrate Ravindra Premarathna.

The Magistrate later ordered to submit the attorney general’s counseling before November 9th.
