The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded Southern Province Fisheries Minister D. V. Upul till 10th of this month.

That was after the CID arrested him yesterday.

The CID arrested Southern Province Minister D.V. Upul after he arrived at the pCID last morning to give a statement.

Police media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that the provincial minister had been summoned to the CID last morning to obtain a statement in connection with the threatening statement that he made against the FCID.

Provincial Minister D V Upul arrested by the CID

Southern Provincial Council Fisheries Minister D.V. Upul was arrested by the CID this evening.

The Southern Provincial Council Fisheries Minister D.V. Upul reported to the CID today to give a statement in connection with the threatening statement that he made against the FCID.

Southern Provincial Council Fisheries Minister D.V. Upul has made the threatening statement while addressing a meeting in Tissamaharama recently.

Later, on a complaint made by the OIC of the FCID, the CID initiated investigations.

The Southern Provincial Council Fisheries Minister D.V. Upul reported to the CID today to give a statement in connection with the threatening statement that he made against the FCID.

Police Media Spokesman Office stated the CID is recording a statement from D.V. Upul.

Southern Provincial Council Fisheries Minister D.V. Upul has made the threatening statement while addressing a meeting in Tissamaharama recently.

Later, on a complaint made by the OIC of the FCID, the CID initiated investigations.

After CID submitted the investigation report to the court, Colombo Additional Magistrate Nirosha Fernando issued a restriction order preventing D.V. Upul traveling abroad.

However, when our news team contacted the Provincial Minister, he said that a distorted version of his speech has been publicized.
