A driver of one of the trains that met with the accident that had taken place at the Vatagoda railway station in Talawakele says that the reason for the accident is a wrong signal given by the Vatagoda railway station.

However Railway Transport Superintendent L. A. Ratnayake told our news team that currently an investigation had been launched with regard to the accident.

A train that was transporting cargo on the Upcountry railway track collided against another cargo train that had  stopped at the Vatagoda railway station in Talawakele at about 6 p.m. yesterday.

A train that had been transporting cargo from Nawalapitiya bound for Haputale had thus collided against a train that had stopped at the Vatagoda railway station on its way from Badulla bound for Kandy.

While transport was impeded as a result of this yesterday, the railway control room said that by now these impediments had been removed.

The driver of the train plying from Navalapitiya to Haputale expressing his views about the accident said that the cause of the accident was a wrong signal given by the Vatagoda railway station.
