A new Government in September; President informs UN Secretary General
President Maithripala Sirisena has informed UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon that a new government would be established by next September.
Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Maheshini Kolonna said at a media conference held today that the President conveyed this message during a recent telephone conversation with the UN Chief.
She said that the Secretary General has commended the steps taken concerning the human rights in the country, and that they would provide necessary resources for reconciliation process via UN Peace Building Fund.
She further added that the President has informed the UN Secretary General regarding the proposed 20th amendment.
In addition, Maheshini Kolonna also said that the President has informed the Secretary General that a new government would be formed by September, and that he intends to visit New York during the same month.
