Former President Mahinda requests political leaders to advise their supporters
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa requested political leaders to advise their supporters to refrain from engaging in foolish acts.
He made this request referring to an incident of hoisting black flags at Polonnaruwa Isipathanaramaya where the former president was scheduled to visit.
Former President’s Media Coordinator Rohan Weliwita told our news team that the former president addressed the people at the election operation office of MP Roshan Ranasinghe which is located near the Isipathanaramaya temple.
However, former president Mahinda Rajapaksa participated in several religious programs organized at Welikanda Sudarshanaramaya in Manampitiya, Bodhi-rukkaramaya in Minneriya, Sumangalaramaya and at Paschimaramaya in Medirigiriya today.
Consequently, the organizers arranged separate venues to hold the meeting after the Bodhi pooja.
Our corresponded also said that special police protection has been provided to the meeting venue as there could be a preparation to hoist black flags in the area today as well.
