Southern PC Minister D.V. Upul further remanded until 15th
Southern Provincial Council Fisheries Minister D.V. Upul, who was arrested and remanded recently in connection with threatening police, has been further remanded until 15th of this month.
D.V. Upul was further remanded when he was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today.
Terrorizing police officers and attempting to obtain a passport through illegal means by submitting forged documents are the charges made against D.V. Upul.
Southern Provincial Council Fisheries Minister D.V. Upul was arrested on May 8th in connection with making threats on police financial crimes investigation division during a meeting held at Tissamaharama.
The CID has informed Court that it expects to record statements from several other persons including MP Namal Rajapaksa who were present in that meeting at the time of D.V. Upul’s speech.
