Update : All Sri Lankans abroad should act as one Diaspora: a statement from Foreign Affairs Minister
Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera says that the 1.5 million Sri Lankans living abroad should act as one Diaspora.
He stated this during an event to distribute dual citizenship certificates held this morning at his ministry.
Meanwhile Nava Sama Samaja Party leader Dr. Wickramabahu Karunarathna says having discussions with the Tamil Diaspora in London by the Foreign Minister is a positive accomplishment.
Dr. Karunarathna stated this during a media briefing held in Colombo this morning.

The government has decided to hold a ceremony for the Diaspora at the end of the year.
Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Maheshini Kolonna at a media conference held yesterday said that the ceremony will be held to motivate the Diaspora that contributes towards the development of the country.
Meanwhile, President Maithreepala Sirisena has informed UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon that a new government would be established by next September.
Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Maheshini Kolonna said that the President conveyed this message during a recent telephone conversation with the UN Chief.
