Dinesh Gunawardana and Vasudewa say during party leaders' meeting they would follow non-cooperation tradition in parliamentary affairs
A political party leaders meeting was held at parliament complex at 11.30 this morning.
During this meeting, MEP leader Dinesh Gunawardana and Democratic Left Front leader Wasudeva Nanayakkara have demanded a date in the 3rd week of this month to debate the no confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
However government representatives had said that a date in the month of July could be allocated for the debate.
MEP Leader and MP Dinesh Gunawardana elaborating about the political party leaders’ meeting held this morning, stated that the Leader of the House had offered the first week of July to take the matter of no confidence motion against the Finance Minister to consideration.
However, MP said that they have rejected the offer and if matters were to continue in the same manner, it would not be possible to cooperate in parliament affairs, therefore, and would be compelled to adopt the parliamentary tradition of non-cooperation.
