Father pays 1 million rupees ransom to rescue his abducted child
A 5 year old boy who was abducted last afternoon in Vavuniya has been released after the child’s father paid Rs. 1 million as ransom.
Police investigations have revealed that the child was abducted when he left home with his mother to attend the religious school at the mosque.
Later the abductors have telephoned the father of the child and demanded a sum of Rs. 3 million as ransom.
However, both factions have reached an agreement to reduce the ransom to Rs. 1 million.
Later, the father has paid the Rs. 1 million as ransom at Yaal Ice Cream road area in Vavuniya and rescued the child.
After rescuing his child, the father has lodged a complaint regarding the incident to the police.
Police media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told our news team that investigations are currently underway to arrest the suspects.
