Sri Lanka Muslim Congress says that they would file a case at the Supreme Court, if the 20th amendment is gazetted while ignoring their warning.

The leader of SLMC Minister Rauf Hakeem stated this while addressing a rally held in Matale today.

Following the meeting of the minority parties, SLMC proposed to use a dual ballot paper system under the new electoral amendment.

However, the political sources revealed that the cabinet approval was not given to this proposal

Speaking during the rally held in Matale today, Minister Rauf Hakeem stated that they would object to the proposed system during the voting for the two-thirds majority.

The minister also expressed his views regarding the impact on minority parties, in case their proposal is ignored, adding that voters would be inclined to vote for the candidates of the main two parties, which in turn would greatly reduce the number of seats entitled for minority parties.

He also stated that even the parties like JVP may face the same crisis of seat reduction considerably, in the long run.

Meanwhile, 22 minority parties including the SLMC will convene tomorrow to discuss regarding the new electoral system.
