The UNP challengers former President Mahinda Rajapakse to name if any army camps are removed from the North under the current government.

Issuing a communiqué General Secretary of the UNP Kabeer Hashim stated that he cannot respond to the challenge.

The UNP states that former President Mahinda Rajapakse had stated that 59 army camps in the North were removed and that it will allow the LTTE to raise its head again.

This was mentioned in the message sent by the former President which was read out during the Mathara rally.

General Secretary of the UNP Kabeer Hashim points out that the President, Prime Minister or the government have not removed a single camp from the North.

He stated that army camps were removed during former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s tenure.

MP Kabeer Hashim chargers that the former President is chanting the LTTE manthra to cover up his corruption and malpractices.

The communiqué further stated that the former President is still misleading the public by spreading false rumours.
