SLFP appoints committee to reunite Maithree and Mahinda
A committee of 6 MPs has been appointed to make a compromise between President Maithripala Sirisena and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
This committee was appointed during the SLFP working committee meeting which was presided by President Maithripala Sirisena today at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.
SLFP electorate organizers, MPs and Ministers participated in the meeting.
Party Media Spokesman Minister Dilan Perera stated that it was decided to contest in the forthcoming general election under UPFA ticket.
He further stated that UNP is continuously saying that they cannot run the government after 100 days.
Therefore, a request was made to the UNP to resign before the General Election and hand it over to the UPFA
Meanwhile former minister Bandula Gunawardana also expressed his views at this occasion, saying that the President has given a responsibility to the senior leaders of the party to strengthen the alliance and to hold discussions with all allied parties together with President Maithripala Sirisena and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Expressing his views, Minister Vijith Vijayamuni Soyza said that different persons hold different opinions. However, despite the differences in opinions, the SLFP has taken the initiative in the process of defeating the UNP.
