Finance Ministry said the special commodity levy on imported dhal was reduced with effect from midnight yesterday (17).

Accordingly, the tax for unprocessed Mysore dhal was reduced from 5 rupees per kilo to 25 cents.

The Ministry said the decision was taken to reduce the burden on the people to counter the price hike in the global market.

Meanwhile, the special commodity levy for palm oil had been increased from 90 rupees to 110 rupees per kilogram to help the local oil producers.
