The SLFP Committee uniting Mahinda and Maithri meets the President today
The Committee appointed to enhance the goodwill between former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to meet President Maithripala Sirisena today.
A senior member of the said committee told our news team that the committee had met day-before-yesterday and discussed at length about the future line of action.
On this occasion lengthy discussion was held with regard to obstacles for improving the goodwill between the former President and the current President and the reasons for these impediments.
A discussion with the participation of SLFP electoral organizers, MPs, Ministers and Provincial councilors was held under the patronage of the President on the 16th.
On this occasion a committee comprising six MPs was appointed to improve the goodwill between the former President and the current President in view of the upcoming general election.
The committee comprises UPFA general secretary Susil Premajayanth, Opposition’s Chief Whip John Seneviratne, SLFP general secretary Anura Priyadharshana Yapa and MPs Kumara Welgama, T. B. Ekanayake and Dilan Perera.
