The Appeal Court dismissed the petition filed by Democratic Party leader, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka for requesting to reinstate him in his parliament seat.

The petition was taken for hearing before a panel of Appeal Court Judges Wijith Malalgoda and H.C.A. Madawala.

The Judges dismissed the petition citing that there are no provisions under the Constitution to proceed the case further.

On an earlier occasion, a fundamental rights case filed for Fonseka, requesting to order parliament secretary general to return his denied seat was dismissed by the Supreme Court.
