Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa today declined to accept the Opposition Leader’s request in which he asked speaker not to open an adjourning debate on the change of electoral system.

Speaking in detail about his request, Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva said that it is against parliament traditions to debate a Draft Bill that has not yet been presented.

Meanwhile, JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that his party does not know facts of this draft bill in detail.

Later, the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe asked the Opposition Leader to point out those Sections which are against holding such a debate or Constitution.

Later, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa who considered the facts put forward by both parties allowed to open the adjourning debate.
