Government sources say that the President hopes to have the 20th constitutional amendment passed before dissolving parliament.

There is speculation in the political circle whether parliament will be dissolved in the near future.

However government sources said further that dissolution of parliament had become indecisive till the 20th amendment is passed.

Reports say that lengthy discussion was held about this at the cabinet meeting held yesterday.

However these sources said that the President was focusing on dissolving parliament soon.

Different views are held in political circles on whether parliament will be dissolved or not.

At the same time, SLFP Media Spokesman and former minister Dilan Perera said that the parliament should be dissolved after passing the 20th Amendment.

He stated this during a media conference convened by Socialist People Front in Colombo last afternoon.
