Thissa Aththanayaka writes to Colombo Mayor not to take over his property
MP Tissa Attanayake has written to the Colombo Mayor requesting him not to take over his property, located in Colombo city limits.
In his letter to the Mayor, MP Attanayake stated that he has duly paid respective local tax without arrears.
The Colombo Municipal Council issued a red notice on MP Tissa Attanayake last Tuesday stating that the MP failed to pay the local tax for his residence located on Bauddhaloka Mawatha.
The CMC has also informed MP Attanayake that his property would be taken over by the CMC to claim his arrears for 3060 rupees.
However, when our news team contacted MP Tissa Attanayake said that he paid due tax for the property in last December.
He also said that the CMC should have informed him in advance if by any chance, had any arrears been left.
When our news team contacted Colombo Mayor A. J. M. Muzammil to comment on the incident, he said that issuance of red notices to tax evaders is an automated process.
He further said that he was not aware of the matter with regard to MP Tissa Attanayake.
