Satyagraha campaign of University student monks at Fort ends after 46 days

The Satyagraha campaign staged by student monks for 46 days in front of the Fort Railway Station concluded today.

The protest was held against curtailing admissions for Pali, Sanskrit and Buddhist Philosophy subjects at several universities including Kelaniya.

Satyagraha campaign came to an end after the Administration of the University of Kelaniya promised to enroll certain number of student monks for the relevant subjects from the next year onwards.

Meanwhile, convener of Inter-University Students’ Federation Najith Indika stated that Satyagraha campaigned staged in several universities against the curtailing of student monk admissions for 103 days, may also conclude today.
