Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaranatunga was questioned today by journalists regarding the UPFA fielding Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to contest the General Election.
The question was raised following a religious program held at Munneswaram Kovil in Chilaw to commemorate the 70th birthday of former President Chandrika Bandaranaike.
In response, former President Chandrika Bandaranaike said that she’s not aware of the matter and that the party has not reached a decision yet.
However, following a meeting held at the Opposition Leader’s Office today, journalists questioned UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha regarding former President Chandrika’s statement.
He replied that former President Chandrika Bandaranaike has no connection to the UPFA whatsoever, therefore, she cannot comment regarding this matter.
